My First Blog Post! :)

What I've learned so far from the MTN presentations.. Hm.. I've learned about analyzing media and also, creating a story board! Although I knew about these two things somewhat before MTN came, I learned a lot of things I didn't know especially when it came to analyzing media. When you're watching TV or a commercial or something, you get the message the commercial is trying to send, most of the time, that's the point, right? Now I've been paying attention to, who produced this? What kinds of shots are they using to make their message clearer? Who are they trying to persuade? I can't just sit watch commercials now without doing this and that isn't a bad thing because when you get me to do something outside of class, that really means I learned from it.  Also when we were creating story boards with our norms, that was a great practice and learning experience too! Being able to see everyone's strengths when it came down to creating a story board, I personally got to learn from it, and what to do better on next time and what I did well the first time around.

The clip I plan on using for my visual communications project is a PSA about your "natural high" promoting a drug-free lifestyle, and the promoter in this commercial is none other than (yes, my idol, and you can say I'm obsessed) Lauren Conrad!

Media literacy is important because, it's what time has brought us to be familiar with, we communicate with it and through it and most of the time, It's promoting a good cause or something that most people can relate to. When you watch a movie, or watch a TV show and you feel like you can relate with it, it makes you feel like you're one with the community, and that to me, is important.
